Blackjack gambling
Blackjack gambling is in a different category because every time a card comes out of the shoe, it changes the make up of the cards remaining. The advantage can shift from player to the casinos depending on which cards have been played and the Skill in which you play your cards.
When played properly it has a house edge of less than one percent, which is the lowest house advantage of any gambling table game. (Again: This is true for "brick and mortar" casinos. Most Blackjack players do not take advantage of the casinos odds advantage of the game of Blackjack gambling. The reason is that the game is not played properly by many players. A player can give up a huge advantage to the casinos by playing hunches. Unlike craps and roulette, in Blackjack the decisions you make at the table have an effect on the casinos edge. In roulette the casinos edge is 5.26%. There are 38 numbers on the wheel and each spin is an independent event. In craps there are only 36 combinations of the dice. This never changes thus each roll of the dice is an independent event as well.
Blackjack gambling however is a game based on dependent events. This means that as each card is dealt the make up of the cards remaining in the deck changes. Big cards left in the deck favor the player and small cards favor the casinos. The advantage shifts back and forth from player to dealer. This is the basis behind card counting. A card counter will bet more when he has the advantage and less when it favors the dealer. However, you don't have to learn card counting to bring the casinos edge down less than one percent.
Because Blackjack gambling has a fixed set of rules which must be followed by the dealer a mathematically correct strategy can be derived insure optimum play. This known as basic strategy and was refined by Julian Braun who worked for IBM and ran millions of hands through a main frame computer decades ago before the advent of the personal computer. Utilizing basic strategy a player will decide how to play his hand depending on the dealer exposed (up) card. A player will stand, hit, double or split his cards to give him the best chance of winning the hand.

The object of Blackjack gambling is to beat the casinos not to try to get close to twenty-one. Because the player must act first it is sometimes the player's advantage to stand on a hand that has the potential going over 21 when the dealer also has card that can bust him. If the player and the dealer both bust the player loses the hand. Blackjack gambling is a great game with a low house advantage that is fun to play. It is not difficult to learn to play correctly. Many casinos will even let you use a basic strategy chart at the table for reference but with a little effort on your part you will soon be able to make the correct decisions without one.
Before I show you the basic strategy you need to follow in order to make the most of the Blackjack odds, here's a summery of the potential moves you can take during Blackjack gambling:
Hitting
To take a hit means that you want to draw another card. To signal the dealer for a hit you will tap the table in front of you or make a beckoning motion with your hand. If you wish another card after the first you would motion in the same manner.
Standing
Once you are satisfied with either your fist two cards or after hitting, you signal the dealer that you wish to stand. This is done by waving your hand over the top of your cards.
Doubling Down
When you double down you are allowed to double your bet after receiving your fist two cards. You then receive one card only on your hand. Most casinos will allow you to double down on any two cards (DOA). Some casinos limit your doubling to hands that total ten or eleven. DOA is a favorable rule to the player. To signal that you are doubling down you will place an additional bet next to your original bet. Most casinos will let you double down for less than your original bet providing it meets the table minimum. This is foolish. You only double in favorable situations and it is to your advantage to double for the maximum.
Splitting
If you are dealt a pair (two cards of the same rank) you can split these into two separate hands. You must make an additional bet equal to your starting bet. You signal the dealer that you are splitting by placing your second bet next to your first bet in the betting circle. Do not put this bet on top of the original bet. Do not separate the cards. The dealer will do this for you. You will now play each hand one at a time. The dealer will give you a second card to go with the first split card. You will then decide to hit or stand. After you play out this hand and stand you will move on to the next split card and the process will be repeated. Some casinos will allow you to double down on your first two cards after splitting. You would play this as you would if you were doubling down on your first two cards. This rule is favorable to the player.
